Project: Joinery fit-out for West London B&Q eco-store

Sector: Retail

Project Team: Simons Construction, Black Architecture.

Purpose of the project:

Provide and fit joinery for new B&Q eco-store, New Malden, West London

Overview:

B&Q is the largest home improvement and garden centre retailer in the UK and Europe, and
the third largest in the world. It has long been associated with environmentally responsible
products, and the company’s latest eco-store, built by B&Q Properties, is located in New
Malden, West London.

This eco-store signifies a milestone for the retailer and broader DIY sector. Not only is it
expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 50% (compared to a traditional store
of a similar size), its footprint is only half that of a standard unit, thereby making efficient use
of its prime urban location.

The main items we installed were:

  • 350m² larch external rainscreens
  • 40m x 6m high larch louvres panels and gates
