Education Centre refurbishment at Beccles Medical Centre

Posted on: May 29th, 2014

The newly refurbished Education Centre has provided Beccles Medical Centre with a facility that meets the training and development needs of the clinical and administrative teams at the practice. It also offers an excellent space to hold Partner and Staff meetings as well as Clinical Governance, Multi-disciplinary and Patient Participation group meetings.

Beccles Medical Edu Centre1Beccles Medical Centre serves around 21,000 patients for the town of Beccles and surrounding villages led by a GP team of 12 GPs Partners. The Medical Centre have been involved in teaching medical students since 2005 and with the new Education Centre they are able to offer a greater level of commitment to the University of East Anglia, and currently teach four out of the five years training, as well as providing a training practice for the Eastern Deanery GP Registrars.

P J Spillings were awarded the contract to refurbish the existing domestic bungalow into the new Education Centre. Internal walls were removed, floors re-screeded and levelled throughout. Structural timber stud walls were installed to form the revised layout creating an open-plan library, work station, kitchen and eating area. Male and female Wc’s were modernised and the electrics, data and lighting were upgraded to the Centre, with the latest smart boards, projectors and sound systems installed in the new training and meeting rooms.
